Rocky Pappas is the foundation of Nine Mile Guest Ranch and RTS Hunting. He has guided hunters since the 70’s and has been an outfitter since 1981. His love for hunting was influenced by his Uncle Jim, who took him hunting as a young boy, taught him gun safety, and the importance of providing food for your family.

He has had traditional jobs through the years, but in 1999 began outfitting full-time at Nine Mile Ranch. He has established a reputation as a good and ethical hunter/guide/outfitter, a great host and storyteller, and an excellent businessman. His commitment to offering the best hunt possible requires attention to the clients, the habitat, and the details. He has procured good leases and has hired top-notch guides who are all familiar with the land and the animals.

As an outfitter, Rocky is the consummate businessman.  As a guide, Rocky is each client’s biggest fan. He says he gets great satisfaction from another’s success.

While he has done most of his own hunting (and all of his guiding) in Colorado, Rocky has hunted in much of the western United States, plus New Zealand. Rocky enjoys hunting big game and has a great affection for upland game bird hunting (loves seeing his dog work), But his favorite outdoor activity when he’s not guiding is fishing – crappie, lake trout, fish under ice, and most any other fish, with a fly rod or any other gear.

Wild game and caught fish as food is another passion for Rocky. If he’s doing the cooking, he likes to prepare crappie; if someone else cooks, he enjoys “my wife’s pheasant.”
